For the first time there were two qualifying groups, but only the top two from each would make it to the two legged semi finals.

This is the story of possibly the most exciting session in it's 10 year history
|Session Winter 2001 will be remembered for a number of firsts.
For the first time there were two qualifying groups, A record number of players taking part and for the first time ever the draw for the two groups was held live on the internet.
It was clear straight after the draw had been made that there were going to be some big games from the off. In the original draw there were 15 players. 4 were to drop out but it still left the groups more than interesting. The revised draw finally being:-
|The draw was done, the players knew what would be needed. Already the eye catching ties were being talked about. But with more players than ever it was going to take something special to get out of these groups.
